Anhangabaú Valley: Check out the cultural program for the month of August!

Since the reopening of Vale do Anhangabaú, the place has had an excellent schedule of events focused on education, culture, sports and leisure. Check out the entire cultural program of Vale do Anhangabaú here!

New Anhangabaú Valley

Vale do Anhangabaú was renovated and opened in 2021 after a renovation costing around R$105 million.

Located in the center of São Paulo , betweenPraça da Bandeira and Avenida São João, the place is the stage for several celebrations and cultural movements, such as the Virada Cultural de São Paulo held in 2023.

In addition, the Anhangabaú Valley has several outdoor activities, sports classes and types of dance, making it a place for all families.

Cultural programming

Coordinated by the Municipal Department of Culture of São Paulo, the Anhangabaú Valley has an excellent and diverse cultural program. There are events aimed at all audiences and different ages. Check out everything that will be happening in the region in August:

Anhangá Skate Cinema

Cine Anhangá Skate is a special cinema session that demonstrates current themes, showing some films, documentaries, series and shorts focused on the cultural diversity of skateboarding, an urban and popular sport.

The event is free and open to all audiences, taking place on 01/08, 08/08, 15/08, 22/08 and 29/08 at 9:00 pm at Espaço Livre. There are 30 spaces and it lasts 1 hour.

Forró show

Vale do Anhangabaú will hold a forró show on 03/08, 10/08, 17/08, 24/08 and 31/08 at 9:00 pm so that everyone can put into practice the forró steps learned in class. The forró will be of all types, university, pé de serra and many others.

There will be 100 places available each day of the event, in the Terra de Todos space, lasting 1 hour.

Amar Theater

Teatro Amar is back in August to stage “The Seagull,” a classic by writer Anton Chekhov. In this story about the investigation of love, 7 young people face dilemmas in their quest to find meaning in contemporary relationships through their experiences of what it means to love.

Teatro Amar has 100 seats, is 2 hours long and will be presented only on 08/09 at 7:00 pm at Espaço Livre.

Theater Bodies Territories

On August 30th, there will be a presentation on the “myth of Medea”, where different reflections on time and its boundaries will be introduced. The event will also take place in the Free Space, starting at 7:00 pm with a duration of 2 hours and 100 places available.

Vale do Anhangabaú is constantly updating its schedule, including new events and activities for the month of August.

Furthermore, it is worth remembering that in addition to the cultural agenda, the space also offers other events and activities, such as:

Leisure

Focused on leisure activities, the Anhangabaú Valley offers:

  • Games table: Focused on leisure, Anhangabaú offers games tables with varied activities for team games or competitions (ideal for children);
  • DJing: POP music DJs liven up the night in Vale do Anhangabaú;
  • Lindy Hop: A dance of African-American origin, Lindy Hop includes jazz steps mixed with Brazilian movement.
  • Forró do Bom: Dance, art and party. Forró do Bom provides space for everyone who wants to learn to dance forró, from basic to more advanced movements.

Education

In August, Vale do Anhangabaú will offer classes in:

  • Hip Hop;
  • Beatbox;
  • Ballroom Dancing for Beginners;
  • Ballroom dancing Gafieira;
  • Dance Video;
  • Waacking;
  • Vogue;
  • Funk;
  • Rhythms (axé, sertanejo and Latin rhythms);
  • Acrodance (steps involving acrobatics);
  • Brazilianness (Brazilian rhythms such as afoxé, maracatu, ciranda and many others).

Sports

It is also possible to learn some sport, in July capoeira, karate, skateboarding, fitdance and rollerblading classes were offered.

However, until now, the month of August will only have Skate classes, being of the “skate challenges” type for anyone who wants to improve their skateboarding maneuvers with the help of a professional.

On Wednesdays, skateboarding is reserved for women only, so they can improve their tricks. It is worth remembering that all interested parties must bring their own skateboard.
