4 - Altino Arantes Building
The Altino Arantes Building, also known as Farol Santander , Edifício Banespa or Banespão, is considered a symbol of the city of drizzle. This skyscraper ranks fifth among the tallest buildings in São Paulo and was built in 1933 by federal investor Ademar Pereira de Barros and inaugurated in 1947 by himself, when he was governor of São Paulo.
It is 161.22 meters high, has 35 floors, 14 elevators, 900 steps and 1,119 windows and its architecture is inspired by the Art Deco of the Empire State Building in New York, United States of America. In 2000, it was incorporated into the assets of the Santander Group, which bought Banespa, and in 2014, the building was listed by the Council for the Defense of Historical Heritage (Condephaat).
The tower of the Banespa Building has a TV Tupi antenna. Inside, it was used as a facility for the Banespa Museum, which opened in 1965 and contains stories about the bank, from its inauguration in 1909, still as the Banco de Crédito Mortgário e Agrícola do Estado de São Paulo, to the present day.

In 2017, renovations began on the building. In 2018, the “Farol Santander” Cultural Center was opened, with a skate park located on the 21st floor, as well as an arena on the 8th floor.
5 - E-Tower
Another one in the city of São Paulo is the E-Tower . The building is located on Rua Funchal, in the Vila Olímpia neighborhood, near Marginal Pinheiros, and is also considered the most modern skyscraper in the city. In total, it has 392 square meters of built area, and is 148 meters high.
The building has an auditorium, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a parking lot with over 800 spaces, as well as offices, two restaurants, and a gym. The commercial building was designed by Aflalo & Gasperini Arquitetos and for this project, they used state-of-the-art materials, both in the construction and in the installations.
In the project, they used concrete with a strength of fck = 80 MPa - Mega Pascal - in order to reduce the size of the four pillars that are underground, but without losing resistance. This strategy allowed them to increase the number of parking spaces.
Fire safety concerns in buildings have extended to architectural and civil engineering projects, and concern for high-performance concrete has been even greater. However, even in this regard, the E-Tower comes out ahead. A study conducted in 2010 confirmed that the skyscraper's pillars meet the fire safety requirements established by the legislation of the State of São Paulo, thus presenting sufficient fire resistance.
