How to decorate a rented room? The best tips for those who rent!
Share
It is always challenging to decorate a rented room - since the property is not yours, you can make some “permanent” changes, such as changing the color of the walls or drilling holes in the walls to hang pictures, but when you leave the property, you will spend a little to leave it exactly as it was. The walls must be returned smooth and the same color as when you rented it, for example. Of course, you can also make some changes to your room and make your little corner stylish and cozy without permanent changes. That is why we wrote this post with some incredible, easy and best of all, inexpensive tips. The tips for decorating a rented room are:
- Use photos and posters with beautiful frames
- Don't leave out the plants!
- Create a cozy atmosphere by playing with lighting
- Use mirrors - they're great for decorating a rented room!
- Invest in rugs and cushions
- Find not-so-obvious things to decorate your rented room
But don't worry, we'll go into detail about each of these points! Let's go!
Use photos and posters with beautiful frames

You can frame your travel photos, photos with friends and family, your pet, or pictures of things you like and that are important to you in your life, or just pictures that you think are pretty and stylish. You can buy simpler frames, the kind you can find in large supermarkets, or you can go to a large decoration store, where you will find a wider variety, and choose the one that looks best with your furniture. To hang them on the wall, you can use those very small nails. These holes can be easily filled with putty when you return the property. Or you can use double-sided tape for very light pictures. There are several tips on the internet on how to remove double-sided tape without cracking the wall.
Don't leave out the little plants

Plants can completely transform a space, and best of all, without much effort or expense. Do a lot of research into the types of plants that exist and choose a plant that doesn’t require a lot of direct sunlight and isn’t too much work to care for.
If your space is too small, choose a taller plant. Succulents and cacti are good ideas for almost any type of environment. They can adapt to many different places and don't require much care. Other easy-to-care-for and beautiful plants include aloe vera, snake plants, and ferns. All of these will add charm to your room, not to mention the coziness that plants bring to the space.

Create a cozy atmosphere by playing with lighting
Here are some really cool tips that go beyond decoration: during the day, leave the windows wide open both to eliminate toxins exhaled during the night and to let the sun's antibacterial rays take effect.
When choosing bulbs, pay attention to their temperature. The most suitable temperature for a bedroom is warm white, which varies from 2,700 K to 3,000 K. A dimmer is recommended to control the light intensity according to your needs.

Divide the areas of your bedroom according to the sun's direction. You need to understand which areas require more light to define their functions. For example, near the bed, it is ideal to have a lamp with a more yellowish light, while study areas deserve white light versions. This will help you balance natural and artificial light, since there are corners that are favored by windows.
Place a central pendant, which can work well for quick tasks like changing clothes and while cleaning.
Lamps are used in work and reading corners. This way, you can play with the effects of light and shadow in different layers, such as with a floor lamp, which will certainly make your bedroom beautiful and stylish. Of course, let's not forget the lighting of the bed, right? Lamps next to the bed in an asymmetrical shape can have an interesting result, as can using an LED strip behind the headboard or under the bed, creating a guiding light for going to the bathroom at night without having to turn on the brightest lights, thus creating a cozy and pleasant environment.
Use mirrors - they're great for decorating a rented room!

Placing mirrors in a small room immediately makes the room seem much larger than it actually is. Try placing the mirror at an angle opposite the window, this way you will increase the natural light throughout the room and make it feel even more spacious. You can buy large mirrors at supermarkets or other stores for very reasonable prices. If you find a light model, you can hang it like a picture. Or just place it on the floor or furniture. It looks beautiful either way.
Invest in rugs and cushions
Choose a rug and stylish cushions to complement your decor. If you have colorful furniture, opt for a more neutral rug and cushions. If your furniture is a more neutral color, opt for more colorful cushions to make them a focal point in the room. In addition to making the room look beautiful, a rug also makes it more comfortable.

Paint small furniture to add personality and decorate your rented room
Add color to your room by painting small items that you can take from one property to another. For example, a chair, a small table or some boxes. You can buy these at thrift stores or buy used furniture for very cheap and refurbish it. Mixing older pieces with modern furniture is great. It breaks up the monotony and gives your space your own personality.
Find not-so-obvious things to decorate your rented room

A trip to a thrift store can yield some great purchases for your bedroom decor. Yes, use your creative flair and pay attention to objects that are different from the obvious ones that everyone would buy. For example, a birdcage can look beautiful in your bedroom if combined with other charming elements or even on top of some books. A straw hat on the wall can replace a painting. It's a way to save money and free up your budget to invest in larger pieces, not to mention that your bedroom will look different, stylish and full of personality.
